Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue - St. James Infirmary - Salmon Arm's R...

Saw and heard him live in Singapore. Man...so cool and funky!!! Brilliant!

Various hairstyles and Maru.-

This cat is so unique and funny...and its owner has a good sense of humour too;-).

Urban Decay Photography

Urban Decay can create interesting places.

The decay sometimes adds beauty to the scene, romanticisme or melancholy. It gives us a sense of history, of the past. Deserted, forgotten places...wandering through them or stumbling upon them you may feel like a Discoverer. The curious eye looks for hidden treasures in the decay. The beautiful color of verdigris aged bronze, nature taking over buildings...fascinating stuff.

Lots of photo-opps for Urban Explorers and for Urban Decay Lovers.

Here are some gorgeous examples:

I would love to find places like this here in Singapore or in my hometown in the Netherlands (Haarlem). I've been told that Singapore is running out of them quickly:-(. Better hurry then!

Kseniya Simonova Sand Animation, number two

Amazing Sand Art on Ukraine's Got talent - Kseniya Simonova

This is her first SandPaintAnimation on Ukraine's got talent. I will post her second one as well.

She does not only master this skill very well, but she combines it with the skill of enchanting an audience. She uses good (here and there bombastic), matching music and she uses her own looks and manners to beautify the performance even more.

Bringing the audience and judges to tears....

The Watts Towers - 1957 - Los Angeles

Excentric people fascinate me. Sabato Rodia was one of these people. A simple, poor immigrant who created some huge mosaiced towers: the Watts Towers in Los Angeles.
Literally built from from scrap!

I have been so fortunate as to have visited the grounds with the Watts Towers. Being a mosaics fan I loved them. Also as a lover of outsider art/ art brut/ follies it was a feast for my eyes.

I think it's fantastic when people go wild with their dreams and creations. When they use objects in ways that they were not designed or meant for.

Hurray for imagination and creativity spiced with a hint of crazyness;-)
It makes the world so much more fun, exciting and colorfull....

How We Met; cartoon and real people combined;-)

Original, fun and well done!

Simon's Cat 'Cat Man Do'

Simon's Cat-videos and drawings are great. This one I find the funniest. Really recognisable and hilarious!

Bent Objects

Another artist who's work I think is great is Terry Border. He makes Bent Objects.

He creates miniature-scenes including things like potatochips and wire. Very well excecuted and very original and humoristic.

Some examples:

Crushed Rosemary aka Rosemary is sad.

Papertraining our little Frank.

Do check out his website!

He also published a book :Bent Objects; the secret life of every day things.

P.s.:
On his website you can link through to the 'naughty' version of Bent Objects;-)

...and beyond;-).

Glen Baxter's cowboys

A british artist who's work I love is Glen Baxter

He seems to be a quirky character with an unusual sense of humour. Even his biographypage on his website is full of absurdity. Very funny.

He makes pencildrawings, in a style that seems from another era. In soft colors or in B&W. And with lots of cowboys;-)

Each drawing is combined with a oneliner and especially that combination of THAT drawing with THAT sentence makes you laugh. So absurd, giving the whole thing a funny twist.

He may not be known by the big audience, but his work has been exhibited in main musea all over the globe.

I have been hoping to meet him @the Haarlemse Stripdagen and to have him sign one of his books, but both times he did not show up when the organizers were expecting him. He does not seem to keen on publicity, commerce or on pleasing his fans.

So he may be a bit of a hermit and an eccentric...who cares?! His work speaks volumes and makes me laugh out loud over and over.
